Three held with 8.7 kg poppy straw

RAMBAN, Nov 26: In two separate cases, three persons were arrested by Ramban Police after 8.7 kilogram of poppy straw was recovered from their possession.
According to the reports, while checking of vehicles at Shan Palace naka point, a police team headed by ASI Ramesh Kumar stopped two trucks bearing registration numbers HP72D-0378 and HP72D-6763 both coming from Kashmir towards Jammu.
During checking of the truck bearing registration number HP72D/0378, a green coloured plastic sack containing 5kg 300 grams of Poppy straw like substance was recovered from the cabin beneath the seat of the driver namely Rakesh Kumar son of Khushi Ram, resident of Kungrat (Himachal Pradesh), who was accompanied by conductor namely Mukesh Kumar son of Mehar Singh, resident of Kungrat (Himachal Pradesh).
On checking of 2nd truck bearing registration number HP72D/6763, a white coloured plastic sack containing 3 kg 400 grams of Poppy straw like substance was recovered from the cabin behind the seat of the driver namely Sanjeev Kumar son of Gurmeet Ram, resident of Mehindwadi (Punjab).
In this connection, two separate cases vide FIR Numbers 395/2022 and 396/2022 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act were registered in Police Station Ramban and further investigation set into motion.
The overall operation was carried out by the police party headed by Inspector Sandeep Charak under the supervision Pardeep Singh Sen Deputy SP Headquarters Ramban with the overall supervision of SP Ramban Mohita Sharma.
