Thousands of Shia Muslims join Mehendi procession

JAMMU, Oct 31: The Mehendi procession was taken out to commemorate the martyrdom of Shahzada Qasim, nephew of Imam Hussian here today.
Thousands of mourners belonging to Shia Sect of Muslims participated in the Mehendi procession which started from the residence of late Syed Mazhar Ali Shah at Janipur here and culminated at Imam Bargah Sofi Shah Peer Meetha. It passed via traditional route of Tali Morh, New Plots, Ambphalla, Ustad Mohalla, Panjteerthi, Jain Bazar and Talab Khatikan.
The mourners’ enroute were wailing and reciting mercia in memory of Shehzada Qasim. The authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the procession. The procession was organized by Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu and members of Shia Sect of Muslims drawn from different parts of the State took part in the procession.
Maulana Syed Mohammed Abbas Rizvi of Faizabad, while addressing the public stressed upon them to follow the foot prints of Imam Hussain who stood against the inhuman act of Yazeed the ruler of that time in Iraq. He said Imam Hussian sacrificed his family and 72 other companions for the cause of humanity and Islam.
The members of Shia sect of Muslims also paid glowing tributes to Imam Hussain the grand son of Prophet Mohammed on the occasion.
Syed Amanat Ali Shah president Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu while speaking on the occasion said that the Anjuman is 60 years old institution which is commemorating the Moharram and Majlis along with the prominent Anjumans such as Anjuman-e-Haidery, New Plot and Anjuman-e-Hussaini Bathindi, All Ladakh Muslim Students, Jammu etc.
Addressing the gathering at New Plots Maulana Zaffer Mehdi said that the battle of Karbala is a darsgah from where different scholars and great leaders were inspired that how to be victorious in the struggle for the cause of humanity.
Prof Sujat Khan secretary of Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu complimented administration for the arrangements.
