SAMBA, Mar 27: Thieves have decamped with gold and silver ornaments along with Rs 40 thousand which were in the form of a necklace from a house of a soldier in Malani village of Ghagwal tehsil of Samba district.
Owner Prithvi Pal said that he works in the army and his family was also with him at the place of his posting. He said he had come on leave for a week and after he returned to join his duty his brother called him on phone and informed that the locks of his house were broken.
He immediately returned and as soon as he entered the house, he was stunned. Everything in the house was scattered and valuables were stolen. He said that a complaint has been given to the local police. The police reached the spot and started the investigation. According to the information, gold ornaments were stolen by breaking the lock of the iron box kept in the store, the locks of many rooms were broken and the bedding material was scattered. It is the fourth house targeted by the thieves in the last one month.
In order to curb the ever-increasing thefts, the local people have urged the police to act strictly against the thieves and identify them as soon as possible and put them behind bars.
