KATHUA, Mar 27: The Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) unit district Kathua under the chairmanship of Bhushan Sharma (president) held a protest demonstration against the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrant) and concerned administration for failing in organizing the LG’s Governance Camp at different locations across the Jammu region as notified on March 2, 2023 to extend benefits of various centrally sponsored schemes to DPs of 1947 from POJK.
The protestors strongly condemned the Govt for handing over such sensitive programme to Relief Commissioner (Migrant) having no records and knowledge of DPs rehabilitation issues. The protestors appealed to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to re-schedule the Governance camp again under the overall command/patronage of commissioner DMRRR along with Custodian/PRO authorized to manage the affairs of DPs since their migration.
The protestors also demanded immediate implementation of JPC Report No. 183 and re-opening of ex-gratia scheme of Rs 5.5 lakhs closed by MHA to accommodate the remaining left-out thousands of families. The protestors further demanded resolution of their land disputes/handing of possessions as per the Agrarian Reform Act 1976.
Later, a memorandum was submitted to Rahul Pandey, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua in presence of Gurdev Singh, president (JKSAC), J&K.
While addressing the protestors, Bhushan Sharma said that the sincere efforts of Lt. Governor in organizing the special Governance camp for DPs of POJK to provide them some benefits through the Centrally sponsored schemes has completely failed as the whole show was completely hijacked by some unknown activists of created by a certain Political parties. The nodal officers entrusted with the jobs to manage the show were seen helpless and were not allowed to sit on the dice to run the affairs of the camps properly. He said all this happened due to negligence and non-serious attitude of Relief Commissioner (Migrant) who is not linked with DPs of 1947 from POJK in any way.
The protestors appealed to LG Manoj Sinha to re-schedule the camps for DPs and also impressed upon the Central Govt to implement the JPC report No. 183 as well as re-opening of the ex-gratia relief scheme to accommodate the remaining over 8000 DPs families.
