Thief arrested with stolen gold, silver ornaments

JAMMU, Dec 2: Nowabad Police arrested a thief with stolen gold and silver ornaments of more than Rs 15 lakh.
As per police sources, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Nowabad by a lady namely Dr Karishma Kapoor stating that near flyover Jewel she was told by some unknown person that her phone has been dropped behind while riding scooty.
“I got off from the scooty to look behind and in the meantime the person stole the gold and silver ornaments from my purse which was hung with the scooty handle and fled away”, she added.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 188/2021 under Section 379 IPC was registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team from Police Station Nowabad led by SHO Inspector Rajesh Khajuria and assisted by Incharge Police Post Canal Road SI Ravinder Singh was constituted by DySP Headquarters Swati Sharma under the supervision of SP City Mohita Sharma.
The team did strenuous efforts and with the help of CCTV cameras footages of the area finally arrested the thief, who was identified as Ravi Sharma, son of Parkash Sharma of Rangpur Basti, at present RS Pura District Jammu.
On his disclosure, gold ornaments weighing 313 grams and silver ornaments weighing 121 grams worth more than Rs 15 lakhs were recovered.
Further questioning of the arrested person is going on to ascertain his involvement in other crimes.
