Thief arrested, stolen gold items worth several lakhs recovered

JAMMU, Aug 1: Janipur police under “Operation Meghdoot” arrested a thief and recovered stolen gold items worth several lakhs from his possession.
As per police sources, a complaint was filed on May 15 this year by Manjeet Singh, son of Balwan Singh, a resident of Mohallah Khajuria, Paloura with Janipur police station stating that some unidentified persons entered into his house and decamped with 10 to 12 tolas gold items valuing over Rs 3 lakh and some cash.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 30/17 under Sections 380 and 454 RPC was registered at Janipur police station and hunt was launched to nab the thieves.
During the course of investigation, several persons were picked up for questioning out of which one person broke down and confessed to commit the theft.
Police arrested the person, who has been identified as Sahil Sharma alias Mona, son of Gian Chand Sharma, a resident of Suraksha Vihar, Paloura. On his disclosure, stolen gold items have been recovered.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Janipur Inspector Virender Gupta made the arrest under the supervision of Incharge SDPO West Davinder Singh and Incharge SP City Vinay.
