RAMBAN, Aug 1: National conference leader and Ramban district president Sajjad Shaheen today sought probe into the alleged multi-crore embezzlement of funds under Constituency Development Fund allocated to Member Legislative Assembly in Banihal over the years.
In a statement, Shaheen said that a well knit mafia is operational in Banihal constituency which manages contracts for development works and withdraws huge payments against siphoned works in connivance with some officers. He said people are also complaining of the same.
Expressing grave concern over the burgeoning corruption in Banihal, Shaheen urged upon various vigilante organizations including SVO Crime Branch and State Accountability Commission to take appropriate and early action into the reports of large scale irregularities in implementation of various schemes in the Banihal constituency including the CDF.
“The nexus will have to be exposed to restore the faith of the people saying that the facts are needed to be made public by the people”, he asserted.
