JAMMU, Dec 10: ‘The Methods’, a dramatic presentation based on a story of Anton Chekhov and directed by National School of Drama alumni Bhasha Sumbli and Sunil Soni was staged today at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu.
Vivekanand Rai, Director Tourism Jammu was the chief guest at the occasion. The play ‘The Methods’ bares the philosophy and maneuvers of an expert bachelor seducer, Peter, who demonstrates his foolproof methods to influence the young wife of his close friend, Nikolaich, comparatively a simpleton. Peter showers adulations on the latter’s wife, Irena, in an attempt to secure her, who later gives in but retaining her sobriety and unbending dignity. It is a series of scenes that give us a strong sense of Chekhov’s take on the human condition. The story exposes the ridiculous, tender, outlandish, ludicrous, innocent, and weird frailties of human beings.
The artists who participated in the presentation include Mahikshit Singh, Shivam Singh, Priya Sharma, Meenakshi Bhagat, Gautam Sharma, Diksha Pandita, Sagar Gupta, Kushal Bhat, Abhinav Sharma, Bhawani Singh Bali, Kananpreet Kour, Prohitdeep Singh, Bhabik Sambyal and Palshin Dutta. The lights of the play were designed and operated by Bhasha Sumbli. The sets were designed by Sunil Soni and the sound was operated by Brijesh Avtar Sharma. The presentation was coordinated by Neeraj Kant and Mohd Yaseen.
