Teachers Guild launches membership drive

JAMMU, Nov 12: In continuation of the activities of Teachers Guild Jammu and Kashmir, a general meeting of teachers was held at Chowki Choura, a far-flung rural educational zone of Jammu district, under the chairmanship of its State vice president Virender Kumar Sharma.
A large number of teachers belonging to four clusters of the zone namely Rah Salyote, Kathaar, Sungal and Dori Degar participated in the meeting wherein membership drive was launched.
Virender  Sharma  highlighted  various issues of the Education Department regarding release of pending salary of teachers, shortage of teachers in rural area, future of single teachers schools, re-organization of educational zones, full maternity leave for Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers, rationalization of teaching staff, release of DA and dislocation allowance to teachers serving in rural area, pay anomaly of masters, enhancement of medical allowance besides clear cut transfer policy on the basis of grading and category of schools.
He appealed the Director School Education Jammu to issue orders for confirmation of teachers and also take up the matter of pending salary of teachers with State Government.
Vijay Kumar Sharma, State general secretary of the Teachers Guild, launched the membership campaign with Life Time Membership of Rs 10 only. Around more than one hundred teachers of zone Chowki Choura filled the membership forms on-spot and joined Teachers Guild J&K. The participants unanimously decided to constitute a zonal body of TGJK very soon.
Kasturi Lal, an active member of Teachers Guild and other speakers among the participants, elaborated upon various problems of teachers community.
Among others present on the occasion, included K L Sharma,  Puran Chand, Joginder Lal, Suresh Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Yash Pal, Kamal Kishore, Sanjay Kumar, Subash Chander, Banti Devi, Chander Prabha, Kanta Devi, Sunita Sharma, Kanchan Bala, Darshan Lal, Krishan Gopal, Ramesh Lal, Balwant Raj, Mohinder Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Harvinder Pal Singh, Suraj Prakash, Ajit Singh, Ravi Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Naveen Kumar, Bodh Raj, Tarsem Lal, Subash Chander, Vikas Shrama and Ashwani Kumar.
