JAMMU, Feb 6: Thathri Development Front (TDF) today urged the Chairman of Delimitation Commission for J&K as well as other members to reconsider the proposal of carving out new Thathri Assembly Constituency out of Thathri Sub-Division.
Reacting sharply to the proposal of Delimitation Commission, the office bearers of Thathri Development strongly criticized total neglect of Sub-Division Thathri of district Doda stationed along main National Highway-44. They said the Sub-Division has been discriminated and even shattered to the extent that some areas of it have been attached with adjoining newly proposed Assembly segment of Doda and also Bhadarwah Assembly Constituency throwing to winds the main constitutional parameter of geographical continuity & communication accessibility.
“It appears that cruel joke perpetrated by earlier Delimitation Commission of 1995, has not only been allowed to continue but also whole Sub-Division Thathri has been divided into so many fragments to destroy its sole identity and strong base of its main population,” they said, adding, the Sub-Division which has 5 Tehsils namely Thathri, Phagsoo, Kahara, Bhella & Chiralla, and two more adjoining tehsils Drabshalla & Mahalla, which deserves not only separate Assembly Constituency but a District status also.
