Tawi Development Board demanded

JAMMU, Dec 5: Tawi Andolan has demanded the creation of Tawi Development Board at the earliest.
Addressing a meeting of Tawi Andolan here today it’s president, Chander Mohan Sharma said, Tawi is not only a river but is also adored as Suraj Putri so keeping in view the sentiments, the management of river shall be entrusted to a Board.
He also said that at present the riverbed has been encroached by wrong elements and instead of removing them the authorities are providing them water and electricity connection besides lanes and roads even by breaking parapet along the bridge on river Tawi.
Sharma further said that there is lack of coordination between different departments which has led to failure of construction of artificial lake and diversion of deep drains which are pouring filth into the river.
“Only a Development Board can provide comprehensive and complete development and rejuvenation of the river Tawi,” he maintained.
Prof. B.L Bhardwaj, S. Bhalwinder Singh Bhatia, Subash Shastri, Sivr Ram Sharma, Raman Sharma, Ajay Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Veena Bakshi, Santosh, Sunita Kundal, Raj Kumari and others were also present in the meeting.
