Tapped water will be provided to all before Dec 2022: Bhushan

JAMMU, Apr 8: DDC Chairman Jammu, Bharat Bhushan Bodhi today asserted that every household in Jammu will get tapped water before December 2022 under Central Government’s flagship programme Jal Jeevan Mission.
He was speaking at the Gram Sabhas held here at Purkhoo Garhi and Raipur Upper-A. Sarpanch, Purkhoo Garhi, Naresh Singh and Sarpanch, Raipur Upper-A, Reeta Kumari were also present in the Gram Sabhas.
At the outset, the people apprised the DDC Chairman about their issues especially with regard to civic necessities, revenue related concerns and other day to day problems. Bharat assured that sooner than later their problems will be addressed as the Government is keen to provide good governance.
Talking in detail about potable water problem, the DDC Chairman said that work is apace under Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s flagship scheme Jal Jeevan Mission, through which every household in the region and for that matter in the country will have the provision of tapped water before December 2022.
“J&K has got a major share of over Rs 900 crore under this scheme which will cater to the needs of population upto next 50 years”, he said, adding that gone are the days when women of Kandi belts have to travel miles to fetch a pot of water. He said similarly the issue of power outage and erratic power supply will be soon tackled effectively as flagship programme under R-APDRP is moving fast to ensure required power infrastructure in both rural as well as urban sectors making it possible for the Government to provide uninterrupted power supply to each and every household.
The meetings were attended by the officials of all the line departments who were asked by the DDC Chairman to resolve the day to day issues of locals including provision of Aadhaar cards, Ration Cards, Ayushman Cards.
The DDC Chairman also highlighted the regular feature of organizing Block Diwas on every Wednesday wherein meetings were held between officials of different departments and local populace to resolve day to day issues of people including that of Aadhaar cards, ration cards, etc and revenue matters like Virasat Inteqal, etc. He said that the Block Diwas is the Government’s unique initiative to reach out to people at their doorsteps, which no successive Government ever thought or practiced in the past.
Disseminating information about each Panchayat getting Rs. one crore from the Government for development, Bharat Bhushan hailed the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha for the people-friendly initiative.
