Talk on ‘Role of Women in Democracy’ held

JAMMU, Mar 7: On the eve of International Women’s Day, Nari Shakti Manch organised an intellectual discourse on the topic ‘Role of Women in Democracy.’ In the beginning Mamta Singh, Mahila Sanyojika gave full introduction of the programme.
Prof. Suman Jamwal, Director, Centre for Women Studies, University of Jammu was the chief guest.
She dwelled in detail about the various pillars of democracy and highlighted the most indispensable role women of 21st century have to play to make the system effective and successful.
Dr Jamwal urged upon the gathering to understand the needs and aspirations of the changing times and contribute to the nation building activities by participating in decision process.
The gathering was also addressed by Rakesh Tayagi, Dharam Jagaran Pramukh North Zone who termed women as ‘Shakti’.
