MMHS excludes non-official members, Charak expresses concern

JAMMU, Mar 7: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) has expressed concern over exclusion of non-official members from Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society (MMHS).
In a press conference here today DSS president, Gulchain Singh Charak said though Governor’s approval for Mubarak Mandi Master Plan is a good step “but much more is required to be done.”
He stressed on the need of including some knowledgeable persons of history stream and those connected with the heritage site as non-official members to gain from their knowledge and experience.
Charak pointed out that the Master Plan has no reference of connectivity through the Gandola ropeway by vertical lift in stages or an altered rope way destination in conformity of the original plan.
He said that a sum of Rs 50 lakh was approved for shifting the archive documents to old information department building after its restoration.
Quoting reply of an RTI, he questioned about the unspent of Rs 39,44,546.
“No money has been spent to renovate the old information department building. The expenditures made appear exorbitant, unjustified and wasteful if not fraudulent,” he maintained.
Charak appealed all those from the Duggar Pradesh to come together to save their roots from getting extinct and being lost forever.
Vice President DSS, Col. Karan Singh, Col. Dr Virendra K. Sahi VrC, Brig M.S Jamwal, Prem Sagar Gupta and others were also present in the press conference.
