JAMMU, Dec 28: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Danesh Rana impressed upon the officers including SSP Jammu to constitute special mobile squads to take action against youth indulging in public nuisance. He also advised Traffic police to launch drive against drunken driving by using breath analysis.
IGP said this during a meeting with senior officers here. During the meeting, threadbare discussion were made to ensure adequate security arrangements on the eve of celebrations on December 31 in Jammu province.
He emphasized upon the participants that on the eve of New Year celebrations, large number of functions are being organized by the management of hotels and clubs on December 31 which will continue till late hours in the evening. At some places, celebrities and renowned singers are also invited to take part which becomes the main source of attraction for the public to witness such functions, he added.
IGP Jammu advised the participants to brief their SDPOs to maintain maximum alertness and strengthen the security arrangements in and around the venues where such function will be organised on December 31. He has categorically directed all the participants to ensure that there is no hooliganism in and around such places and in case of any violations action under law shall be taken against the concerned to avoid any law and order problems.
He also warned against hooliganism car/bike racing, eve teasing, nuisance in public places and other kind of anti-social behaviour. The revelers may be advised not to congregate and play loud music in public places, market squares, roads, bridges and fly over, he added.
SSP Udhampur and Ramban have been directed to ensure adequate police arrangements at Patnitop where large numbers of revelers are expected to gather. Similarly SSP Reasi has been directed to ensure enhanced security measures at Katra, Bhawan and other important places in his area of responsibility.
The meeting was attended by DIG JSK Range Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, SSP Jammu Uttam Chand, SO to DIG JSK Range /IGP Jammu Zone.
