JAMMU, Dec 18: MS Rather, Secretary to Government, Social Welfare Department today reviewed the working of J&K SC/ST/BCs Development Corporation.
YP Suman, Managing Director of the Corporation presented details of achievements made by the Corporation. He said the Corporation has so far provided financial assistance to the tune of Rs 127.54 crores to 30,913 persons of the target groups in the State. During current financial year, the Corporation has disbursed loan under Direct Financing Schemes worth Rs 5.28 crores to 313 beneficiaries and subsidy to the tune of Rs 16.51 lakh to 191 beneficiaries under the bank tie-up scheme.
Mr Rather directed the Corporation to make the people aware about their schemes especially the education loan scheme. He advised that publicity of the educational loan scheme should be given through various educational institutions. He took a serious note of gap in the loans sanctioned by the Corporation and loans disbursed to the beneficiaries.
Mr Suman said the Corporation was providing loan assistance at concessional rates (4-6 per cent per annum) for setting up of income generating units to SCs, STs, BCs, Notified National Minorities, safai karamcharis and handicapped categories in J&K and also educational loans to the students of these categories at the interest rates of 3.5 to 4 per cent for pursuing technical/professional courses. He gave a power point presentation on achievement and schemes of the Corporation.
Other present in the meeting were Divisional Managers of Jammu/Kashmir, Manager Projects, Manager Finance and Section Officer of the Corporation.
