JAMMU, Dec 17: The State Vigilance Commission has issued a notice and called for a detailed report from the Registrar University of Jammu, in connection with a complaint, regarding malpractices and other irregularities allegedly committed by the University authorities.
The SVC issued the notice while proceeding on a complaint titled “Narinder Singh Raina, general secretary, Secular Forum, Sarwal, Jammu v/s Authorities of Jammu University”.
In the complaint, the Forum leader alongwith his counsel appeared before the Commission and made submission that a number of malpractices, favouritism, and other gross irregularities were committed in JU. Illegal cancellation of interviews for the selection of Assistant Registrars, purchasing of Medical Surgery Books, illegal order for printing of study material, embezzlement in distribution of CM relief fund, shutdown of PG courses in violation of rules, diversion of funds worth two crores of Directorate of Distance Education, hushing up of evaluation scam in Directorate of Distance Education, persuasion of B Ed/M Ed Courses by University employees without approval, illegal withholding of University funds by Dy Registrar, nepotism in selection of lecturer in Department of Remote Sensing & GIS etc, are among the allegations made in the complaint.
The NSF leader also alleged that the university authorities were trying to conceal and hush up their evils, and prayed for early probe in the matter.
The Commission, after hearing the submissions and after looking into the gravity of allegations, called a detailed report from Registrar, JU. The Commission further ordered to ensure submission of report by or before next date of hearing.
