SUF condemns statement of MS Sirsa on ‘gold donations’

JAMMU, May 22: Sikh United Front (SUF) has condemned the statement of Manjinder Singh Sirsa, president DSGMC, and disagreed with the proposal of donation of gold by shrines of various religious communities as help in the humanity’s war against Coronavirus.
In the meeting of the Front, an amalgam of various Sikh organizations J&K held under the chairmanship of Sudershan Singh Wazir, its chairman, various members including Dayal Singh Wazir from Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, HS Raina former general secretary DGPC Jammu, Mohinder Singh – chief organizer Bhai Kaniya Nishkam Sewa Society, Darbinder Singh -president Shiromani Akali Dal J&K and Kulwant Singh joint secretary SAD, condemned the statement of DSGMC chief MS Sirsa and also disagreed the proposal for donations of gold by shrines of various religious communities to help the humanity in waging war against COVID-19.
Wazir said that gold and other sacred valuables belonging to the Sikh shrines are a collective treasure of the proud and devout Sikh community and there is no question of any individual or organisation even contemplating in the direction of donating even the smallest part of this sacred treasure. Strong religious sentiments are attached to treasures like these, some of which have immense historical and heritage value.
He claimed that Sirsa’s statement has hurt the sentiments of various Sikhs living around the globe. He said that the whole world during the time of Corona pandemic is witnessing and standing up to applaud of the Sikh community setting extraordinary examples in service and selfless sacrifice in helping the poor, the needy and the hungry across the world.
Wazir demanded a strong action from Prakash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal against Sirsa and asked that he should be expelled from party immediatly for his anti-Panthak activities and remarks. He also requested Jathedar Akal Takht Sahib Gaini Harpreet Singh to take cognizance of the matter.
