Sudhmahadev Mela arrangements discussed

UDHAMPUR, June 4: Arrangements for the smooth conduct of 3-day historical Sudhmahadev  Mela starting from June 12, 2014  in tehsil Chenani of district Udhampur were discussed in a meeting of district officers of different departments held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal  today.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Sharma  Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, N.N Jamwal, district heads of various departments, members of local mela committee were also present in the meeting.
Threadbare discussions on various arrangements like drinking water, power supply, medicare, sanitation, security, transport, accommodation, checking of rates of essentials and parking of vehicles etc. were held in the meeting.
The DDC directed Executive Engineer PHE to erect adequate number of public points at the Mela site well in advance while Executive Engineer, PDD was asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Mela days. The Chief Medical Officer was asked to depute a team of doctors with ambulance and required medicines to meet any eventuality at Chenani, Sudhmahadev and Mantalai round the clock during the Mela days. Executive Engineer, PWD was asked to erect separate temporary toilets for males and females at the Mela site and Mantalai for the convenience of pilgrims.
A committee was constituted to keep a strict vigil on rates and quality of eatables besides adequate parking places would also be identified at different locations for the smooth flow of traffic.
To acquaint the people about State and Centrally sponsored schemes, various departments would set up their exhibition stalls during Mela days. Cultural programmes would also be organised during the Mela days.  Tehsildar, Chenani would be the Mela Officer to supervise all arrangements.
The DDC stressed upon the officers concerned to make coordinated and concerted efforts in ensuring their arrangements well in advance to make the Mela a grand success.
