Study material gutted in accidental fire at DDE

JAMMU, Apr 30: Study material was gutted in accidental fire at Book Store of Directorate of Distance Education in Jammu University, this evening.
As the Fire Brigade was immediately called and the blazes were controlled soon, a major damage was averted. Some electric short circuit appears to be cause of fire, said Prof Pankaj Shrivastava, Dean Students Welfare, JU.
The incident came to light around 7.30 pm, when a class IV employee of the university, residing in family quarters on the campus, noticed smoke emanating from DDE complex. He brought the matter into the notice of others and Dean Students Welfare, who immediately called Fire Brigade.
Before the fire could engulf more area, it was controlled even as a number of books and study material got damaged in the incident, Prof Pankaj Shrivastava said and added that exact loss has not yet been estimated.
