Stop violating route permits: Transport Commissioner

JAMMU, Feb 18: Transport Commissioner, J&K has directed the Public Passengers Transport Owners (PPTOs) to stop violating their allotted route permits.
In a circular issued by the Transport Commissioner, all Public Passengers Transport Owners have been asked to stop this practice immediately which is a major violation of the conditions of issuance of route permits.
Further it has been said that any vehicle found plying on a route not mentioned in the route permit issued to the vehicle shall be prosecuted without further notice. Apart from suspension and cancellation of route permit under Section 86 of Motor Vehicles Act 1988 the vehicle shall be immediately seized for enforcement of the conditionality of the issuance of the route permit under section 72 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
Besides, penal action against the owners, the license of the driver shall also be suspended/cancelled for driving the vehicle in violation of the route permit which results in mismanagement of traffic system of J&K State.
