JAMMU, Aug 2: Sainik Samaj Party (SSP) has urged Union Government to remove numerous anomalies existing in One Rank One Pension (OROP)-1, 7th Pay Commission and OROP-2 recently revised by the Union Government.
In a handout Col. S.S Pathania (retired), J&K president of SSP said these anomalies are affecting officers, JCOs, other ranks and family pensioners and causing them huge financial losses.
“Arrears of OROP-1 equalized in June 2019 by the Government are not yet given and more than two lakh pensioners including family pensioners have died without getting arrears,” he maintained adding: “Next equalization was due in June 2024 and very little was being done to ensure timely implementation and release of arrears in a given time frame.”
The SSP leader said that a large number of organizations of ex-servicemen had staged protests on July 2023 and requested the Government to seriously address the issue of anomalies and give them timely justice, failing which their protests will be intensified.
Pathania urged the Government to show empathy, appreciation and gratitude to the veterans’ community and form a committee to resolve the issue on fast track basis as soldiers and veterans must be treated with respect.
