SRINAGAR, Apr 9: The Home Department has attached the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Mansur Untoo, who is accused of sexually exploiting a police constable’s wife.
According to the Home Department’s order No. 176 of 2014, dated 03.04. 2014, the Untoo has been attached with immediate effect.
The order reads: “Pending inquiry into his conduct in terms of All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, Mansoor Ahmad Untoo, IPS, SSP, the then SO to ADGP Armed, now Commandant IR 12th Bn is hereby attached to the Police Headquarters with immediate effect.”
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Shiv Murari Sahai said that he has received the order of attachment from the Home Department.
A preliminary departmental inquiry had found SSP Mansoor Ahmed Untoo and inspector Mehboob-ul-Haq guilty of the charges after the victim’s husband had written a letter to the DGP who then directed the ADGP (Armed) to look into the allegations.
Subsequently, Additional director general of police (ADGP) SM Sahai had suspended the inspector, Mehboob-ul-Haq, who was working in the armed division of the state police.
