Srinagar-Narbal 4-laning to be completed in May

Srinagar, Feb 12: Border Roads Organization (BRO) today said the work on four-laning of Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway (NH) – which has missed several deadlines – is progressing at a fast space and the work upto Narbal crossing would be completed by May end this year.
Chief Engineer of BRO, Brigadier A K Das said endeavour is to complete the black topping of the main carriage way except the litigation portions by May end this year. “Once the disputed areas are handed over by the state executives the balance work will also be carried out post haste,” he said.
He said the National Highway from Udhampur to Banihal has been successfully handed over to the NHAI for 4 laning on 31 December 15. “All deployed resources on this road have been redistributed on other axis for better utilization. The maintenance of the NH is now in the able hands of very experienced executives of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI),” Brigadier Das said.
The BRO CE said with respect to construction of bridges, which for various reasons have been delayed, we have been able to achieve 50 meters of bridges. He said the major bridges which have been completed and opened to traffic include Sopore Bridge, Jabla Bridge and Sukhnag Bridge.
“I would like to assure you all that, no stone is being left unturned to ensure that the people and the other users of the roads in the Jammu region and the Kashmir Valley are given full satisfaction with respect to the standards of road surface and pace of work to give faster completions. All projects lagging behind for various reasons are being jointly tackled for early solutions both by the State Government and the Beacon authorities,” said BRO Chief Engineer.
