Sky is the limit for Shivia

JAMMU, Sept 28: Sky can be the limit for the people who are determined to achieve it. This has been proved by Shivia Hangloo, a Kashmiri Pandit girl from Hanglagund village of Anantnag district in Kashmir Valley cracked the Civil Services for the second consecutive year and got 261 rank all over India.
Having belief in the quote“ Fortune favours the brave”, Shivia said it is true in the exams as well. It rewards determination, hard work and patience of the aspirants”.
The B Tech Engineer, from PEC Chandigarh, Shivia earlier did her primary schooling from DPS Jammu and senior secondary Schooling from Chandigarh. Being a studious child from her school days, she told Excelsior that her teachers during her school and college days laid a strong foundation of her personality by imbibing the qualities of discipline and responsibility in her.
She also gives full credit to her parents and grand parents in shaping her career saying that they were all support for her right from her childhood in her pursuit for a good career in her life. Shivia, who has a very good family background with her grand father Durga Nath Hangloo being an educationist, said her entire family including her parents Rakesh Hangloo and Anju Dhar as well as Santosh Hangloo her grand mother were an inspiration for her who all wanted her to do some thing very great in life. “It was because of their blessings and good wishes that I cracked the Civil Services for second time in a row bettering my performance”, she added.
Like thousands of Kashmiri Pandit families Shivia’s parents and grand parents too had suffered pangs of migration after the mass exodus of the community in 1989-90. But the family did not allow the migration to create any hurdle in the path of their children instead extended all support and help to them in pursuing their aim.
Shivia said that her experience during her college days of working with an NGO nudged her to select Civil Services as career option. “I saw it a platform to interact with society at a direct level and create impact in a strongest way possible”, she added.
“After my selection in Indian Information Service (IIS), I wished to take another chance in the Civil Services Examination to aim for a higher rank so that I get the service of my choice,” said Shivia whose joy knew no bounds after the result was out. “I will try my best to do justice in my job and perform my duties with utmost dedication and honesty”, she added.
“Having a strong belief that nothing is impossible in the life provided one has dedication and honest approach” Shivia said “My message to students is to have a clear goal in mind while starting the journey of Civil Services’, Stay focused and have a clear strategy. This exam is achievable if one understands the demand of the exam well,” she added.
