JAMMU, Sept 16: Swaraj Kendra for Yoga (SKY) distributed smart phones to underprivileged students of Government High School Ratnuchak.
This was the first phase of their initiative which was started few days back to help poor school students who are unable to study at e-platforms because of non-availability of smart-phone devices with them as the schools are shut due to COVID-19 pandemic and the education is carried on at e-platforms.
A handout of SKY stated that this distribution of free smart-phones will give the poor students an edge to be at par with other students studying at home during the pandemic.
For this noble cause Anil Swaraj, SKY Founder had made an appeal to the society to donate their spare smart phones to help underprivileged school going children especially of schools serving the lower strata of our society.
The initiative also helps to support PM Modi’s vision- ‘Padhega Bharat, Tabhi to Aagey Badhega Bharat’.
To donate spare old or a new smart 4G phone one may contact SKY at 94192- 22222 for distribution in second phase.
The SKY handout also stated that few people have been very prompt and generous to the appeal posted on social media and SKY received 11 handsets in last two weeks (few brand new too).
SKY has thanked to contributors-Chandan Gupta (CEO Monika Departmental Store), Nipun Verma, Ankush Goel, Sunny Gupta, Sabiha Kapoor, Mannat Gupta and others.
SKY donated four smart phones from their own resources.
Founder SKY, Anil Swaraj said: “On our request, Senior Headmaster Govt High School Ratnuchak, Sonam Dolkar started an exercise to identify brilliant students of different classes of the school who were good at studies but didn’t have smart phones because of poor economic background and submitted a list of 15 such students to SKY and smart phones were distributed to all of these students.”
Others who were present in the distribution function were Manisha Gupta, Nipun, Rahul Thapa and Kamaini Kumari.
