JAMMU, Sept 16: In order to increase the awareness about COVID-19 pandemic, week long awareness camp and donation drive being organized by Centre for Sustainability and Environmental Management (CSEM) at Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur entered day-2.
The CSEM was established in the year 2019 as initiative of Prof (Dr) Neelu Rohmetra, Director IIM Sirmaur. The objective behind establishment of the centre is to promote active research in the field of environment sustainability and steer institute’s efforts in the similar direction in effective and systematic manner.
During the current week, a series of awareness camps shall be organized in the villages adopted by the institute under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan of Government of India. The institute has adopted five villages near Paonta Sahib which are Kunja, Ajauli, Jamniwala, Danda, and Dobri.
During the drive, a safety kit will be donated in villages. The villagers will also be given a brief demonstration on the usage of the safety kit.
The drive has started from Kunja village on the first day during which the designated officials of IIM Sirmaurmet the Gram Pradhan Siksha Devi, Panchayat Secretary Lekhraj Chaudhary and other ward members along with few villagers at Panchayat Office, Kunja Matralion.
Prof Pradipta Patra, Prof Parul Malik, Dr Arpita Ghosh and other officials of IIM Sirmaur handed over prevention essentials to the Panchayat officials which included hundred reusable cotton masks along with a PPE Kit and manual sanitizer spray machine filled with disinfectant.
The Panchayat Officials and local villagers were briefed on the appropriate sanitization methods and precautions and preventive measures to be taken care in order to fight this world wide pandemic.
The villagers appreciated the social responsibility shown by IIM Sirmaur and thanked for helping the local community during this unprecedented time. The drive shall continue during the entire week covering rest of the villages.
