SKUAST-J celebrates World Meteorological Day

SAMBA, Mar 23: On the occasion of World Meteorological Day, Agro-meteorology Section, Division of Agronomy, SKUAST Jammu, organized an awareness programme at Sarthian Kalan, block and tehsil Gagwal of Samba district, here today.
During programme, initiated under the guidance of Dr J P Sharma, Director Research, SKUAST -Jammu, Scientists of SKUAST-Jammu, briefed the farmers about weather parameters and their role on agriculture and its allied field.
Dr Mahender Singh, Sr Scientist and Head of Agro-meteorology Section, informed the farmer how to crop plants are related with weather and their responses in different metabolic activities of the plant.
Dr Veena Sharma, Technical Officer, GKMS, informed the participants about the role of weather based Agro Advisory Services provided by university.
Dr V B Singh, Sr Scientist and Incharge, RRSS, Raya Samba, informed about various disease and their intensity with respect to weather parameters. Dr Brij Nandan, PRSS Samba, briefed about the scope of Kharif & Pulse in the area and their efficient management with the weathers and Dr Rohit Sharma, Technical Officer delivered the talk on strategies to be followed to counter the ill effects of future climate change.
