JAMMU, May 31: Skoda Auto India unveiled the latest version of its RAPID 1.0 TSI and SUPERB, as well as the all-new KAROQ SUV at Rs 7.49 lakh, Rs 29.99 lakh and Rs 24.99 lakh, respectively.
All these new models were unveiled by Skoda Auto India at its Virtual Conference. The company showcased its powertrain and fuel strategy in view of the BS 6 emission norms and safety standards, while demonstrating a new range of Turbocharged Stratified Injection (TSI) engines. The TSI engines come in capacities of 1 l, 1.5 l and 2 l.
The all-new KAROQ will feature a new 1.5 l, TSI petrol engine with maximum power of 148 hp and 250 Nm torque. The KAROQ features a seven-speed automatic DSG transmission delivering a claimed fuel economy of 16.95 km/l (high phase WLTP) and claimed top speed of 202 km/h. Skoda Auto India the new KAROQ’s bold styling and class-leading space may grab the headlines, but the car’s inner workings tell an equally compelling tale. With Active Cylinder Technology to further boost the fuel economy, two of the four cylinders in the TSI powertrain are deactivated, in view of the power requirement.
The Skoda RAPID with the new 1.0 TSI petrol engine develops a power output of 108 hp and 175 Nm torque, with a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.97 km/l. The new RAPID 1.0 TSI features a six-speed manual transmission, and when compared with the outgoing 1.6 l MPI engine offers a 5 % upsurge in power and 14 % rise in torque. At the same time, the new RAPID offers a 23 % increase in fuel efficiency against the previous engine, the company noted.
The SUPERB range, Laurin and Klement and SportLine, will house the new 187 hp, 2 l TSI petrol engine that accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds, with a claimed top speed of 239 km/h. The engine develops peak torque of 320 Nm, and is mated with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
