All barriers in development removed: Dr Jitendra
Avtar Bhat
JAMMU, Aug 25: Outrightly rejecting the Gupkar Declaration of opposition parties including Congress and National Conference (NC), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said that these parties are day dreaming and termed the supporters of Gupkar Declaration as followers of Pakistan.
Making a scathing attack on the Congress, NC and other Opposition parties for signing Gupkar Declaration, BJP in its virtual Working Committee meeting here termed it an “anti-national agenda.” The BJP also held these parties responsible for all the bloodshed in the region. The party took Pakistan to task for making a hue and cry in UNO over the annulling of so-called special status to J&K which it said was totally discriminatory in nature. It accused the neighboring country of trying to furthering its agenda in India by such means.
The party also accused the Congress for incorporating these controversial Articles 370 and 35 (A) even after the strong resistance by the nationalist forces in the country.
Addressing the virtual Working Committee meeting from New Delhi, BJP national general secretary, Murli Dhar Rao said that BJP’s only objective was not the abrogation of the Article 370 but retrieving of PoJK from Pakistan is also on BJP’s top agenda. “We have a national commitment to it’’, he said while quoting the joint Parliament resolution of 1994 in this regard. “The entire nation is committed to achieve the Parliament resolution’’, he added.
Maintaining that Kashmir is incomplete without Pandits, Rao said they will be resettled in Valley as their displacement is a part of grave injustice meted out to them. He also said that the discrimination and injustice to which the people of Jammu and Kashmir were subjected prior to August 5, 2019 when controversial Articles 370 and 35 A were annulled will be done away with and every region of J&K as well as every community of the UT will now get justice. The J&K will tread on the path of development and progress henceforth, he added.
The BJP national general secretary also made it clear that his party does not believe in any single religion but it treats all religions as equal. On the restoration of Statehood to J&K which party has also made a part of its political resolution passed today, he said that it will be restored on appropriate time when terrorism is completely rooted out from the UT. He also made it clear that Assembly elections will only be held in the UT after completion of Delimitation process. He said that still there are certain other issues like China, corruption which are to be resolved.
Addressing the Working Committee meeting from national Capital, another national general secretary, Dr Anil Jain said that the Article 370 was a blot on face of India and claimed that lot of development has taken place in J&K during last one year after the annulling of the so called special status. He alleged that Congress and NC were pursuing “pro-Pak polices” and J&K was deprived of delimitation and the development of the erstwhile State was retarded due to their “wrong and anti-people policies.”
Dr Jain alleged that huge funds given in aid from Union Government during last seven decades for development of the State were swindled by those who remained in power over the years leaving the common masses in lurch. He said the dream of ‘Ek Nishan, Ek Vidhan and Ek Pradhan’ has been realized under the Government of Narendra Modi. He also lauded the role of party in public service during the COVID Pandemic.
Union Minister in PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh who also addressed the rally from New Delhi talked about various measures taken to counter the COVID-19 pandemic efficiently in India with ample help to all the States for effective management. Speaking liberally on Atam Nirbhar Bharat, he said that one should not assume it as conflict with modernity or advancement. “Local means that we have to strive hard and continuously to manufacture everything from Aeroplane to a small screw locally but not keep ourselves distant from scientific advancements going on in another parts of the globe’’.
“The Atam Nirbhar Bharat does not mean that we should not purchase the non indigenous products but maintain capacity of developing these products locally also to become self reliant’’, he added.
Maintaining that all barriers in the J&K’s progress and development have gone after the abrogation of Article 370 last year, Dr Jitendra Singh said “We were dependent on political leadership which believed in appeasement and made us totally dependent while depriving us of all opportunities to become self reliant’’. “But now all these barriers have gone and we have got opportunity of becoming Atam Nirbhar and self reliant’’, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said Prime Minister, Narendra Modi showed his enough boldness by announcing 10 percent of GDP as package while Opposition Congress had demanded to provide four cent of GDP as package to people as a compensation in the COVID Pandemic.
BJP national vice president, Avinash Rai Khanna stressed on strengthening the party at booth and Mandal level and urged the activists to take all party and Government programmes and policies to grass root level.
Khanna said that the Panchayati Raj system has been strengthened in J&K and now the funds are directly released to Panchayats with which they can concentrate fully on the development as they are not dependent on release of funds from the Department.
J&K BJP president, Ravinder Raina chaired the meeting. In his presidential address he complimented Prime Minister, Narendra Modi led Union Government for taking strong decision to abrogate the controversial Articles 370 & 35 (A). He said that these Articles murdered the human rights of communities like Gujjar-Bakarwals, SCs, STs, OBCs, Pahari, women of the erstwhile State, Valmikis, West Pak Refugees etc. All the residents of J&K have robustly welcomed the abrogation of Articles, he added.
He said that Pakistan’s hue and cry in the UN on the issue proves that these Articles were furthering its Agenda in India. He said that when Congress along with certain others incorporated these Articles, even then it was opposed strongly by all the nationalists. Now with the abrogation of these controversial Articles, J&K will progress on most modern lines, he stressed.
He said that on the first anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 on August 5 National Flag was hoisted in every corner of J&K. He also praised the party activists for their commendable job during COVID -19 lockdown. He, while attacking parties like NC, Congress etc. said that supporters of Gupkar Agenda are supporters of Pakistan they are responsible for all the bloodshed in the region.
