JAMMU, Feb 7: State unit of Shri Ram Sena has decided to observe February 14, as Martyrs Day, the day on which the great heroes of freedom struggle, Sardar Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev were announced death sentence.
This was announced by Shri Ram Sena State president Rajiv Mahajan while addressing a press conference here today.
“The function in this regard will be held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, Jewel, Jammu on February 14,” he said and appealed people to participate in the function for paying tributes to the martyrs.
Emphasizing the importance of the Day, Rajiv Mahajan lamented that the people in India were forgetting freedom fighters and inclining towards Western culture which is not a good endeavor. “Instead of remembering our freedom heroes, we celebrate Valentine’s day- a foreign event, on February 14,” he added.
Others, who were present in the press conference, included Ajay Gupta, Bal Krishan Arora, Pawan Choudhary, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Ramesh Thakur.
