Srinagar, Nov 18: Scores of shopkeepers today protested against hike in rent by Wakf Board here.
The shopkeepers whose shops are owned by the Wakf Board in Hazratbal area of the city here assembled at Press Enclave and raised slogans in favour of their demand. The shopkeepers said that the Wakf Board has resorted to “uneven” hike in the rent and it would “very difficult for them to pay that.”
“We have been told to pay Rs 35 per square feet. This is injustice with us,” they said and appealed government to look into the matter and roll back the decision by Wakf authorities.
