Sunil inaugurates motorable bridge over river Chenab

THATRI, Nov 18: With an aim to connect the un connected hamlets of Siraj area to the highways and the main Doda town, Minister of State for Public Works Department and Revenue, Sunil Kumar Sharma in presence of MLA Doda Shakti Raj Parihar today inaugurated 86 meter steel girder motor able bridge over river Chenab at Thatri.
The bridge is the only motorable bridge over river Chenab from Pul Doda to Kishtwar and constructed of Rs 11. 78 crore. It will provide connectivity to Barshalla, Baroth, Judi, Bakhana, Bhalwana, Shinote, Sisual, Kanithi, Harish etc villages on the right bank of river Chenab. It will connect a population of 25,000 people living in these villages to the Batote- Kishtwar National Highway.
Mr Sharma also held public grievance redressal camp at Thatri where he paid a patient hearing to all the demands of the people, which mainly include macadamization work on certain roads, curbing the culture of absenteeism in rural areas, construction of other bridges over river Chenab and restoration of Batote- Kishtwar Highway among others.
The Minister also inspected the road widening and macadamization work on the Kishtwar- Paddar, Machail road and directed PWD authorities to replicate such BT standard in other roads also.
Expressing concern over the complaints of the locals regarding the culture of absenteeism in the remote areas of Paddar in the Rural Development Department, Social Welfare Department, CA&PD and Health, the Minister warned all the officials posted in the area to ensure punctuality otherwise strict action will be initiated against the erring officers and officials.
