AKHNOOR, Nov 18: Launching scathing attack on BJP Government at the Centre for scuttling the issue of rehabilitation package to PoJK and Chhamb displaced persons, senior Congress leader and Minister for PHE, I & FC, Sham Lal Sharma has said that BJP’s real face has been exposed.
Addressing public meetings at Sandal, Majoor, Kaneri and Rameen Makhya in Akhnoor constituency today, Sham Lal said that by clubbing the issue of West Pakistani refugees with the displaced persons of PoJK, BJP Government has made direct attempt to sabotage the issue. He alleged that actually the party does not want to address the problems of these people. He said the issue of West Pakistani is totally different that of PoJK displaced persons as West Pakistanis are residents of Pakistan, whereas, the PoJK people are bonafide citizens of the State and they were simply demanding one time settlement in lieu of their moveable and immoveable property.
He claimed that State Government under tremendous pressure from the Congress party approved the proposal and forwarded the same to the Central Government, but unfortunately, the BJP led Government at the Centre tangled the issue with the non-State issue just to sabotage the move, Sham asserted.
The Congress leader said that PoJK people have already suffered a lot and BJP, instead of addressing their genuine problems is trying to spread salt on their wounds by raising unnecessary and unjustified queries. He warned the saffron party for scuttling this human issue and said that Congress party will fight this genuine demand of the distressed lot with full might.
Sham asked the people to support the Congress party overwhelmingly to bring it in power enabling the party to ensure complete peace and overall development of the State. He said it is only Congress party which can provide justice to all sections of the society as the party has the secular credentials that has been proved since decades. He listed the development initiatives taken during the past one decade in the Pahari belt by him and said that he will continue to develop this belt on priority.
