Sham, Manmohan address Sarpanchs at Dyalachack, seek support for Azad

HIRANAGAR, Apr 13: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma, who is also chairman of Election Campaign Committee for Jammu-Poonch and Kathua-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituencies, today convened a meeting of Sarpanchs of 23 Panchayats of Hiranagar constituency at Dyalachack and sought their support for Ghulam Nabi Azad.
PCC general secretary, Th. Manmohan Singh and former MLA Hiranagar, Girdhari Lal Chalotra also accompanied the Minister.
Sham Lal urged the Sarpanchs to extend their whole hearted support to Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is joint nominee of Congress-NC for Kathua-Udhampur Parliamentary seat. He said the victory of Mr Azad will be the victory of secular forces and development and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. “Mr Azad has played pivotal role in the national politics for the development of Jammu and Kashmir. He was instrumental in strengthening the Panchayati Raj Institutions and bringing 73rd Amendment in the State besides making special efforts to strengthen the Health infrastructure,” said the Minister.
Maintaining that present election was being fought between the secular and communal forces, the Minister asked the sarpanchs to make use of their influence and motivate people to secure support for the Congress candidate to ensure his victory.
He also asked the Sarpanchs to defeat the nefarious design of communal forces, like BJP, BSP and PDP that have spearheaded the false propaganda against the Congress Party to grab power.
Th Manmohan Singh and Girdhari Lal Chalotra also made fervent appeal to the Sarpanchs to vote for Congress candidate.
The Sarpanchs who participated in the meeting included, Rakesh Singh, Panchayat Chakra, Dwarka Nath Sharma, Kunthal, Sat Paul, Saida, Jagdish Raj Sharma, Devo Chack, Bharat Bushan, Boviya, Tilak Raj, Haripur, Bishan Dass, Pansar, Sardar Singh, Khanbal, Vidhaya Dhar, Mareen, Ravi Sharma, Chanyia, Tarsem Lal, Talolpur, Om Parkash, Mukandpur, Puran Chand, Sherpur, Bagmal, Satura, Bavishan Sharma, Ghara, Kaka, Pathwal, Kamal Kant, Kootah, Bushan Sharma, Amirpur, Vijay Singh, Thathiban, Bhola Nath, Suba Chack, Jawahar Lal, Kalyal, Jag Ram Sharma, Patyari-Katlan and Vijay Tagotra of Panchayat Nao Nath.
Earlier, the Minister also addressed election meetings in Jat dominated localities in Hiranagar, including Chhan Kattrian, Kattel Gujjran, Cheerath (Billawar), Tanda, Gaghwal and Kootah.
