ANANTNAG, Apr 13: Leading the Congress party’s poll campaign in south Kashmir for its alliance partner National Conference, Tourism Minister, Ghulam Ahmad Mir today said only Congress led UPA could give a stable Government to the country.
Mir, who has been camping in south Kashmir for past ten days to garner support for NC candidate Mehboob Beg, today visited Malapora, Akhran, Kelam, Devsar, Berigam Ziyarat, Kewa Malikabad Sadoora and Waltangoo Ziyarat areas of Devsar constituency in Anantnag and addressed various public rallies.
While addressing the public, the Minister appealed them to vote for coalition candidates aserting that only Congress can provide a stable Government along with other secular forces.
“During last 10 years J&K has progressed well and become prosperous, as UPA led Government at the Centre always gave liberal funds for development of the State. Not only this we have also empowered panchayats in the State which no Government in past had managed to do”, the Tourism Minister said.
Seeking vote for NC-Congress coalition, Mir cautioned people not to fall prey to the propaganda that has been slashed by certain communal forces in the country about Congress party.
During the day-long visit, Mir was accompanied by party leaders including Hilal Shah, Mohammad Amin Bhat and Anayatullah Rather.
