JAMMU, June 15: Emphasizing on providing better road connectivity to border areas, the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Chaudhary initiated the work on 4-laning of Suchetgarh road here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister reiterated that Government has initiated several projects to improve road connectivity with special focus on border areas for holistic development of the State.
“The 6.78 Km long road costing Rs 15 crore will enhance the connectivity to Suchetgarh border post that has been developed as a tourism spot”, the Minister maintained. He stressed on regular quality checks at both pre and post construction stages to ensure adherence to quality standards.
The Minister said that the 4-laning of Suchetgarh road will give a boost to the border tourism in the area and further added that the road connectivity should be seen in the larger context of socio-economic impact that it brings on the economy of such areas.
“Government is working with a pragmatic approach to redress the core issues of the population living in border areas”, the Minister said , adding that, more development works will be taken up to meet the aspirations of the local population.
The Minister also interacted with the locals and gave a patient hearing to the issues and demands put forth by them. Redressing the grievances, he assured them that all their genuine concerns will be looked into on priority and directed the concerned officers to take adequate measures to mitigate the problems of the people in a time bound manner.
