Sham asks workers to make public aware about development initiatives

AKHNOOR, Nov 12: Senior Congress leader and Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today called upon the workers to make aware   masses about the development initiatives taken during the past one decade when he represented the Akhnoor constituency.
Addressing a workers’ meeting at village Ambaran here today, the Minister said that all round development and welfare of people of Akhnoor was the only poll plank for him and he will continue to focus on this important issue in future too. He sought support of the people for another stint on the same plank, adding that development, welfare, prosperity and security are pre-requisite for a citizen to lead a peaceful life in the society. “During the past two tenures as MLA of the constituency I have tried to address the basic problems of the people. The main thrust remained on upgradation of education, healthcare, PHE, electricity and road network infrastructure in the constituency and people can feel the difference of services”, Sham Lal said  and  asked the people to compare the developmental scenario with the previous candidates who represented the segments and then decide about the future course of the constituency.
Sham Lal said the emotional sentiments on various issues will be exploited by the candidates and people should not pay heed to such false and hollow promises. He also impressed upon the Congress workers to work hard for seeking support of the people for him purely on the basis of his performance during his period of MLA.
He also asked the people to pin-point his shortfalls so that these could be prioritized in the next tenure. The period of six year is insufficient for a candidate to ensure the development of all areas but priority is being given on the important issues, he maintained.
Office bearers of Block Congress, Akhnoor and several workers of the constituency were present on the occasion.
