JAMMU, May 12: Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust organised ‘Kailakh Karuna Abhiyan’ a drive of feeding grain and water to birds by placing bowl of water for them for their drinking purposes at Raipur, Domana, here today.
Former Minister and BJP leader Sham Lal Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, while Jammu Bar Association President, Abhinav Sharma was the guest of honour. Dr C M Seth was the special guest.
The chief guest praised the resource person of the program for taking such an initiative and he also said feeding grain and giving water to birds during this hot summer is the great step taken by the Trust under the president-ship of Mahant Rohit Shastri.
Speaking on the occasion, Abhinav Sharma said that birds make our environment beautiful and we should leave no stone unturned for their well being.
He said birdfeeders can also be installed in our homes so that birds flying there can eat and drink.
Chairman of team Jammu Zorawar Singh Jamwal also graced the occasion with his presence.
President Mahant Rohit said that the Trust started this drive of 10 thousand bowls for feeding grain and water to birds, besides distributing Shrimad Bhagavat Gita and Ramayana among the members of the society.
On occasion, Trust honoured some dignitaries for their contribution to the society.
They included President Awardee Bhupinder Shastri, Retired Brig Balbir Singh Sambyal, Team Jammu Chairman Zorwar Singh Jamwal, Principal of Rashtriya Sanskrit Santhan Kot Bhalwal Dr Vasudev Sharma, Prof Subash Sharma, SSP Operation Jammu Sandeep Mehta, Pandit Des Raj Shastri, Chief Engineer JK Shama (Retd), Municipal Committee Ghou Manhasa and State BJP Kisaan Morcha President Rajinder Singh Chib, M D Dainik State Samachar and Social Activist Shamasher Singh Charak, besides Journalists Deepak Khajuria, Manmohan Singh Jamwal, Counselor Dr Akshay, Manmohan Singh and Sunil Sharma.
