SAMBA, Jan 5: A function to pay tribute to late Ct Devendra Singh of 9 Battalion BSF was organized today here at BOP NSP Khora on his death anniversary.
Besides family of the martyr, Kuldeep Raj, MLA Hiranagar, Arvind Ghildiyal, Commandant, 9 Battalion BSF and people from border villages were present to pay tributes to the brave border man, who laid his life for the Country on January 5, 2015.
On the occasion, Reeta Devi, wife of martyr along with her two children inaugurated “Devendra Billet” (Jawan Barrack) at BOP NSP Khora. Commandant, Nidar Nine, honoured the family by presenting a laptop, shawl, track suit and Nidar Nine sovereign clock.
Ct Devendra Singh, a native of village Muhrani, district Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, in a service span of nine years and one month gave commendable and well recognized services at border areas of Gujarat, Srinagar and Jammu.
He made supreme sacrifice on January 5, 2015 while Pakistan Post Lumbriyal opened heavy fire targeting the Indian BOP NSP Khora, Amid heavy mortar shelling, Singh took position and retaliated effectively. Meahwile another Pakistan Post opened firing with mortars and shells which landed near camp guard morcha of BOP NSP Khora and Ct Devendra Singh sustained splinter injury on his head, which took his life.
