SHA issues list of best-performing hospitals in J&K; GMC Anantnag tops

Srinagar, Aug 13: The J&K’s State Health Agency (SHA) has issued a list of 20 best-performing empanelled hospitals under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in J&K in which the Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag along with a private hospital in the district has figured at the number one slot.
In this regard, the selected Government, as well as the private hospitals, are going to receive the appreciation certificates on Independence Day by the concerned Deputy Commissioners across J&K.
As per the list, in Anantnag, in the category of Public Hospital, GMC Anantnag has figured at number one along with Mid City Urology & General Nursing Home in the Private sector, CHC Chadoora at number 2, District Hospital Bandipora at number 3, CHC Sopore on number 4 along with Guru Hospital in the private sector.
CHC Gandoh in district Doda has figured at number 5, District Hospital, Ganderbal at number 6, GMC Jammu along with Raksha Kidney Centre in the private sector has figured at number 7, GMC, “Kathua along with Gupta Hospital & Research Centre at number 8, District Hospital, Kishtwar at number 9, District Hospital, Qazigund at number 10, District Hospital, Handwara at number 11 and SDH Mendhar at number 12.
Similarly, District Hospital, Pulwama along with the Care Dialysis & Diagnostics Centre has figured at number 13, SDH Sunderbani at number 14, District Hospital Ramban at number 15, CHC Katra at number 16, DH Samba and St. Joseph Community Hospital, Bari Brahamana at number 17, District Hospital at number 18, JLNM Hospital, Rainawari along with Al Imdad Dialysis Centre at number 19, and CHC Ramnagar along with KLSM Rotary Eye & Ent Hospital at the number 20.
Officials said that in the ranking, several parameters were analyzed, and accordingly the scores were been assigned. As per the marking scheme for the upcoming Independence Day, the parameters that have been taken into account include claims settlement percentage, utilization of health benefits packages, number of grievances raised by the beneficiaries against the hospital, and the highest number of beneficiaries registered by the hospital in the district under AB-PMJAY.
Principal, GMC Anantnag Dr. Tariq Qureshi as well as the Medical Superintendent, GMC, Anantnag Dr. Iqbal Sofi told Excelsior that the acknowledgment of achievements by the hospital is a great moment and that the same will push the concerned staff to do more. “It is a moment of pride for the hospital and the appreciation will have a wide range of positive effects,” they said.
While the ranking is a regular annual process, the aim of putting out the best performing empanelled hospitals, officials said, is to encourage and acknowledge the work of the hospital under the scheme in the Union Territory of J&K.
To conduct the exercise and issue the appreciation certificates among the empanelled hospitals, the directions have been issued by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, National Health Authority (NHA), requesting the States as well as the UTs.
Following that, the SHA has written to all the Deputy Commissioners stating that based on performance under the AB-PMJAY and achievement of AB-PMJAY Quality Certification…it has short-listed district-wise best performing empaneled hospitals.
