JAMMU, Feb 13: Ghulam Nabi Bhat (Palpori), and Abdul Majeed Sheikh, contested MLA candidates from Kashmir region, today joined BJP in the presence of Sat Sharma, President, J&K BJP, Kavinder Gupta (former Dy CM), and MLA Surjit Singh Slathia at the party headquarters, Jammu.
Arif Raja, senior leader of BJP from Kashmir region facilitated the joining of the two tall political personalities. Rakesh Mahajan, Balbir Ram Rattan, Dr Pardeep Mahotra and others were also present on the occasion.
Ghulam Nabi Bhat (Palpori), who contested from Eidgah constituency in recently held Assembly election, joined BJP along with Ghulam Qadir Pandit, ward president, Gh Mohd Rather, Gh Nabi Mir Halqa president, Bashir Ah Bhat, Fayaz Ahmed, Tariq Ahmed Bhat, Gh Nabi Tengpora, Bilal Ah Shah, ward president, Mohd Sultan, Jamal Din Shah, Mohd Yaqoob Yatoo Halqa president, Mudasir Ahmed Dar, Gh Mohd Ganaie, Imtiyaz Ah Magery ward president, Zahoor Ah Thakor, and others.
Abdul Majeed Sheikh joined BJP along with Irfan Ahmed, Mubarak Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed, Ghulam Mohd, Bilal Ahmad, Qayoom Ahmed, Fayaz Sofi, and others.
Sat Sharma welcomed both the leaders along with their supporters. He said that Ghulam Nabi Palpori, from Eidgah (Downtown) had secured more than 6000 votes while contesting independently and lost with a small margin of 800 votes. He said that Abdul Majeed Sheikh received around 4000 votes from his constituency.
Sat Sharma said that the prominent social and political personalities from around the region are coming to join the BJP as they feel that the nation is secure and progressing in PM Modi’s leadership. BJP keeps the nation first; its activists never care for themselves and dedicate themselves to the society and the nation. We expect that these new entrants, will serve the society in accordance with the principles of party, he said.
Kavinder Gupta welcomed both the political leaders, stressing that they have the duty to represent the voice of people. He said that they both have done the right decision to join BJP.
Surjit Singh Slathia, welcoming both stalwarts into the party fold and stressed that the BJP belongs to every person who wants to serve the society and the nation with dedication.
New entrants said that the people across Kashmir have started developing faith on Modi as they have witnessed the unprecedented efforts to ensure peace and to promote progress.
