JAMMU, Dec 26: The hunger strike by the all selected warden candidates in jail police of the prison department entered 25th day here today.
The short listed candidates for jail warden amid slogans assembled outside Press Club and held protest against the callous attitude adopted by the Government and the concerned authorities.
They also burnt their documents to express their anguish over the delay in the release of the list of the selected candidates.
Addressing the gathering, the protesting candidates demanded release of the final selected candidates, which was pending for the last more than three years due to the reason best known to the concerned authorities.
One of the protesting candidates informed that about 43000 unemployed youth had applied for the post and 1246 candidates were short-listed for the interview, which was held in the month of September 2010.
He said that the even after more than three years, the final selection list has not yet been released.
“We had taken up this issue with the Chief Minister, Cabinet Minister, concerned officers and senior leaders of opposition parties, but nothing has been done by them”, he alleged.
The protesting candidates urged the Chief Minister to personally intervene in the matter and redress their demand at the earliest.
“If the Government will not redress our demands at the earliest, we will come on roads, hold massive protest and for any untoward incident, the Government will be responsible”, the protestors added.
