The matter pertains to the security of civil airport extension area which falls on the Southern side of the airport. Few years back, a big chunk of agricultural land on both sides of nallah flowing towards Chatha was acquired from the farmers without their consent and that too at throw away price. The said area has been four walled by the concerned civil aviation authorities. But due to non maintenance of the said area, Sarkanda grass, bushes, trees and different kinds of weeds have grown up over it.
It has become virtually a dense jungle which can be used as a hideout by the anti social and terrorists to assault the security forces/common masses and especially targetting transport aeroplanes while landing and take off. There is every apprehension that the above noted elements shelter in the said area can cause huge loss of passangers and aircrafts besides the common people living around this area. So far non foolproof security arrangements have been made to avert any tragedy or untoward incidents. Huradly two to three or constables of CRPF are deployed for security of such a huge area and it is not possible to keep eye over this area because of grown up jungle. The matter needs to be highlighted. So that no untoward tragedy or any other incident may take place.
