JAMMU, Feb 6: After assurance and constitution of 3- member committee by the Government, to look into the grievances and demands of the employees, the Secretariat Employees Coordination Committee, headed by Ghulam Rasool Mir, has suspended the strike for 15 days.
The employees had called for strike today and staged massive demonstration in the Secretariat premises despite heavy rain. The employees were demanding notifying of KAS slots, restoration of slots meant for promottee group, diverted earlier to direct recruits and the criteria being adopted for induction into KAS.
The president of the Committee, GR Mir, who was leading the demonstration said that Committee will not scum to the pressure of the Govt at any stage and asked employees to remain united for achieving the goal. He said, earlier, this process was being undertaken clandestinely purposely just to favour a particular service on the cost of promote group.
Mir demanded constitution of a high level committee to probe the reasons of diverting the slots from one source to another and punishing the officers responsible for this willful negligence. “It is sheer arrogance on the part of the Government of issuing KAS induction order despite the assurance given by the Chief Secretary that no further diversion will be allowed” said the president and demanded to keep the order issued yesterday in abeyance till a final decision is taken amicably. The Committee, after a threadbare discussion, decided to suspend the strike for fifteen days.
Meanwhile, the officers in feeding services for KAS Cadre (An Amalgam of 18 service/departments) of Kashmir Division, today, met at Srinagar and discussed the issue of induction made by the Government on Tuesday in which 40 slots were allotted to direct recruits and 13 to promoted group. The officers said that the move of the GAD to allot more slots to direct recruits instead of balancing the slot share, as assured by the Chief Secretary, is breach of trust.
