Snowfall in hills, rains in Valley

Srinagar, Apr 19: Fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir and rain in the Valley brought down temperatures today.

Snowfall was reported in the Tulail area of Gurez valley in Bandipora district, on either side of Zojila pass in Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district, and along the Mughal road in Shopian district.
The Valley received light to moderate rainfall in the early hours of the day, with the weather expected to improve later today.
Several key roads, including the Mughal road, Srinagar-Kargil road and Bandipora-Gurez road, have been closed due to snowfall. Click here to watch video
The snowfall and rain have brought down the daytime temperature by a couple of degrees at several places, however, in Srinagar it was normal for this time of the year.
Srinagar recorded a maximum of 21.0 degree Celsius which is normal for this time of the year for the city.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 19.5 degree Celsius which is 0.7 degree Celsius below normal, Pahalgam recorded a maximum of 14.4 degree Celsius which is 3.5 degree Celsius below normal for the tourist resort, Kupwara recorded a maximum of 15.9 degree Celsius which is 5.3 degree Celsius below normal, Kokarnag recorded a maximum 19.0 degree Celsius which is 0.1 degree Celsius below normal and Gulmarg recorded a maximum 8.2 degree Celsius which is 2.4 degree Celsius below normal for the Ski resort.
