JAMMU, May 31: In a meeting, here today, Secretary Mining Department, Amit Sharma reviewed the working of J&K Minerals Corporation (JKMC).
The meeting was attended by Vikram Gupta MD, J&K Minerals; Suresh Kumar Koul, Director Finance Mining Department and Arun Kishore Kotwal, Additional Secretary Mining Department.
During meeting, Amit Sharma observed that JKMC is doing a good and consistent work over the last few years especially regarding extraction of coal from Kalakote Mines and gypsum from Parlanka Mines which is fetching handsome income to the Corporation to help clear pending dues for the employees.
It was informed during the meeting that JKMC is actively extracting precious gem Sapphire from Padder (Kishtwar hills) during activity season spanning over 3-4 months in summers every year.
The Secretary directed that all steps must be taken immediately to organise a grand global auction for Sapphire sale so that this rare gem discovered on the hills of J&K can fetch best earning.
The GM of J&K Minerals requested for allotment of few more Minor Mineral Blocks by the Government as per last board meeting decision which can help in adjusting Kalakote Coal Mine Workers in such blocks, as the work of mining has reduced substantially in Coal Mines due to lot of coal extraction taking place continuously for over last few years.
The Secretary directed the MD J&K Minerals to introduce maximum technological interventions for bringing more efficiency in operations of the Corporation leading towards total transparency and best outcomes.
He assured that Government will support all positive steps for taking this oldest Corporation of J&K to new heights.
