JAMMU, Nov 11: GGM Science College today organized a blood donation camp in association with Blood Bank of SMGS Hospital, Rotary Club of Jammu Elite and Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu region.
It was brought to the notice of Principal, GGM Science College, Dr Satinder Singh, that there is shortage of blood in the Blood Bank of SMGS Hospital for Thalassemia patients and within two days a camp was organized in the college for blood donation.
The staff and the students, especially NSS volunteers and NCC cadets enthusiastically volunteered for this noble cause. Suri from Indian Red Cross Society gave a lecture on the benefits of blood donation and motivated the students for this noble cause.
Sahil Verma, an NSS volunteer was the first student to donate blood and after that there was no halt. Girl students also volunteered and were keen to donate blood which they did gladly. Even teaching faculty and office staff also volunteered for the cause.
A senior Rotarian, Veena Tandon, president, Nupur Sandhu, secretary, Sangeeta Gupta and Rotarian Archana Sharma, were also present on the occasion. NSS Programme Officers— Prof Romilla Malla Bhat and Dr Rabia Javed, and Associate NCC Officers, Dr Jagjit Singh and Prof Anjana Sharma, helped in organizing this camp effectively.
