JAMMU, Nov 11: A two-day Classical Dance Festival organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages commenced at Abhinav Theatre, here today.
Manju Wazir and Group showcased her spell bound performance. The other members of the group were Aarushi Gupta, Anishka Tiwari Chinmayi Rao, Mridula Naik, Samiksha Purohit, Sanskriti Soam and Vrinda Kacker.
Manju Wazir, daughter of the soil, is presently working with Khaitan Public School, Noida as Head of the Dance Department and is also running her own institute of Kathak Dance where an appreciable number of students are having the education of Classical dance. She herself has learnt Kathak under the noble guidance of Late Pt. Durga Lal Ji and Munna Lal Shukla Ji at Kathak Kendra and completed 3 years Diploma course in 1992. She has given numerous performances in almost all the states of the country and has earned a lot of appreciation.
Delivering his welcome address Dr Aziz Hajni , Secretary,Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages expressed his happiness to organize this two day Classical Dance Festival at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu for the Art lovers of the region. Adding further, he said that the audience is no doubt less in number but is well acquainted with classical dance for and will surely enjoy this performance.
Bindiya Tikoo, a prominent Artist conducted the proceedings of the programme and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, of the Academy.
A large number of artists, intellectuals and prominent citizens witnessed the show.
