JAMMU, Apr 21:  The members of All J&K Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) Employees Forum, engaged under Centrally sponsored Literacy Mission programme   in the School Education Department held protest demonstration here today.
A large number of SBM employees including females, assembled near Press Club of Jammu and started protest demonstration.  Under the leadership of Ishaq Ahmed Shah, president of the Forum,  these members were shouting slogans in support of their demand.
These agitating employees were demanding  their regularization and release of their wages.  They said that about 7000 youth were engaged  under SBM as district, block and Panchayat coordinators across the State under the scheme  but they are denied their wages. They were imparting education to the elderly people and enhancing literacy rate in the State.
They further claimed that their services are being utilized for examination duty, academic support,  elections and other surveys etc.  The Adult Education is the national concern and these people should be provided justice.
This scheme has been extended by the Govt of India up to 2017. Many people engaged under the scheme are going to be over aged. Therefore, they should be accommodated in Education department as most of them are PG, MA Bed or BA BEd.  They are being paid Rs 6000 under district  and block level post and Rs 2000 at Panchayat  level. This amount should also be enhanced.
Ishaq Shah, provincial president Mohd Maroof, Javid Ahmed,  Satish Kumar also addressed the gathering.
